hui (hu ee): to join; meet; unite; form a club; partnership; union [Hawaiian Creole English]
dui (du ee): as in Melvil Dewey. Dewey changed the spelling of his last name to Dui.
Hui Dui is the name of the student body of the Library and Information Science Program. All registered LIS students are automatically members of this organization. "Hui" is the Hawaiian word for organization. "Dui" is the phonetic spelling of Melvil Dewey's name (among other things, Dewey was an advocate of spelling reform).
Hui Dui represents LIS students at faculty and other committee meetings of LIS. We also sponsor lecture series, graduation dinners, social events, course evaluations, and more.
